Online Tools To Help You Save Money

There are some great online tools out there to help you save money. Try to stick to the free ones though, unless it offers a tool that you think would really help maximize your savings. Please remember that your trying to save money. It would defeat the purpose to pay for an un-useful tool  to save money.

SmartyPig.com is a social banking site. I'm not a huge fan of the social part of it. But everything with the internet is moving towards being more social (think Twitter, FaceBook and so on). My favorite feature of Smartypig.com is the amazing interest rate of 2.15%. This is an awesome rate when you consider the average bank only has an interest rate of .77% according to BankRate.com Another feature of Smartypig that many of you will love is the social aspect of it. I'm not a huge fan of this feature (and remember you do not have to use it), because to me, my money is a personal matter. With SmartyPig you can share your savings with your friends and family, share it on Facebook, and people can even make contributions to your savings account on SmartyPig. After you reach your savings goal on SmartyPig, you can transfer it to your bank account, get it put on a debit card, or redeem it for a gift card. If you select the gift card option, you get special bonuses and such.

PearBudget.com is a simple budgeting and expense tracking tool. Part of saving is budgeting your money instead of spending it mindlessly. It is free for 30 days, after that it is just $3 a month. Please keep in mind, that there are a lot of ways to do the same thing for free but if you need it to be as easy and simply as possible, then you may want to consider PearBudget.com

Mint.com is the easiest way to track your finances. It is important to analyze exactly where every penny goes every month. For example, drinking coffee at home instead of getting a small coffee at Starbucks will save you over $40 a month (based on drinking just 1 cup of small coffee 5 days per week). Mint.com tracks your spending and sends you budget reports. It even does bill reminders.

Do you know of an awesome money saving tool that you can share? I would love to hear about it!

Set Your Savings Goal & Make A Plan

The first step to saving money is deciding how much you want to save and for what. For me that was easy, I want to start small. If I plan for something big, I will get overwhelmed and lose track of what I want. So I am starting off with a goal of $500 and I want to use this money as an emergency fund.

The next step is to set a time limit. At first I wanted to achieve this goal within 2 months. So that mean's I would need to save $62.50 each week. For many of you, that's loose change but with the amount of debit that I have in front of me at the moment, I need a little less of a commitment to start off with. So I'm going to give myself 4 months, which is $31.25 each week.

Now that I have a plan, what do I do with this money? Well, I could always use an old coffee can (kidding)! I want to make the most out of my savings, and the best way to do that is interest. The question is, should you put it in your regular bank account? That depends on your bank. In my case, the answer is an clear NO! To decide, you must first check out what your bank's interest rate is. My bank's interest rate on a personal savings account is .04%. I found a site called SmartyPig.com with an interest rate of 2.15%, which is a huge difference.

I'll keep you updated on my savings plan. Please share yours with me, I would love to hear it!

The Need to Save Money

Now I know that this blog is supposed to be all about making money and jobs, but please bare with me.

I've been thinking a lot about saving more money lately. Being self employed for me means that I work 3 to 4 times more than the average Jane does. I bust my ass for the money I earn each month. Yes, I can do it in my pajama's, but there's a reason why most days I stay in my pajama's. I'm working too many hours to change or even do laundry!

What does this all mean? It means that I need to be smarter with the money that I earn. I need to treat it like its precious. To me this means, I need to figure out ways to save more money. I know that if I am struggling with saving and stretching out my money then many of you are too. From  now on, in order to help both myself and you, I am going to be adding a money saving feature on this blog....Stay tuned!

Amazon Mechanical Turk MTurk.com

I hesitated with writing this blog post. This blog is all about LEGIT jobs. I decided to write it anyway, to hopefully help you decide for yourself what is and what is not legit.

Amazon Mechanical Turk program (or MTurk) is a program that connects people that have jobs to offer with those who want to work. There are plenty of jobs listed on the website. At the very moment I am typing this there are 119,392 jobs available. My bet is that at least 50% of them are jobs that you do not want to do. You must be very very careful with Mturk and make sure that you are selective.

One of the problems that I have found is that a lot of jobs want you to go to another site to do something on that site.  The sites seem to be spam, phising, and virus sites. Be very careful before you go to any website that looks strange to you. Also make sure that you have a good virus scanner installed.

Another problem is that some of the sites want you to pay for something. Here is an example, one person on there is offering $10 if you test out his website and obtain a free credit report. Seems like an easy way to make good money doesn't it? Well, here's the problem. You have to pay for it! The sites asks for credit card information, and they clearly state, that if you do not cancel within 7 days, you will be billed $24.95! Now your probably thinking, so what's the big deal? I'll just get the free credit report, cancel right away, and I'll have $10. Well, can you trust this site? Can you trust this person? Identity theft and credit card fraud happens every single day! So becareful!

Also make sure that you are getting paid for your time. There are a lot of people offering $1 for 40 minutes worth of work. Not at all worth it. Usually when you work from home you make more money, not less.

There are two ways to get paid. The first is direct deposit. You must have $10 minimum in your account. The second is with an Amazon gift card. You only need $1 to cash out for a gift card.

There are too many different people offering jobs on MTurk to deem is as being a legit work at home job. There are lots of legit work on there. You just have to judge for yourself!

Make money giving great tips!

Tipdrop.com is like blogging and user Twitter combined. It is a site, where you get paid for giving tips on just about anything! People post a topic, like gardening in clay soil for example. Then you just post your tip about gardening in clay soil.

Tipdrop.com is focused on useful tips only. Not nonsense like, what color shoes someone is wearing that day. As you post tips you build your crediblity on the site. The more creditable you are the more people will follow you, and the more money you will earn.

You earn money by receiving a percentage of Tipdrop's ad revenue percentage.  Another way to make money is to use your own affiliate links. So if you put a tip in to use a specific product, make sure you use your Amazon Associates, Linkshare, or Commision Junction links.

You have to keep in mind that Tipdrop.com, is still new. That mean's that it will take awhile before you start seeing substantial profit. The potential is there though and there is money to be made at the moment.

Earn a living by writing in a blog

Blogging is one of the most profitable jobs on the internet. It's also a lot of fun. You can blog about anything you want too and make money. There are several ways to do this.

Affiliate marketing is the best way to use a job to make money. It's simple, all you do is post affiliate links on your blog. You should start off with something simple like Google Adsense and Amazon Associates. Just sign up for an account with both of them, then follow the directions to connect them with your blog.

Doing product reviews is another great way to make money. Let's say your blog is about books. Random house sends out over 1,000 copies of each new book to bloggers. Not only do the bloggers get to keep the books, but they get paid $100 per book reviewed!

Another great way is by writing paid posts. Companies like Payperpost.com, pay you to write blog posts about a certain company, product, or topic. The average is $5 per blog post or .04 cents per word.

Im inc, get paid to recruit internet models!

Im inc is the largest internet webcam company. With IM inc you get paid to recruit internet models. All that you do is post ads. When you sign up to be an agent, you will get an unique link. You then take that link and post it online. You recruit both agents and models. You receive 10% of whatever they make. Im inc pays every Monday. They pay via Paypal, direct deposit, or epassporte.

I have been with IM inc for two months. During those two months I have made $400. I have been paid every Monday on time. All that I have done is post my agent link on Craigslist and forums. I have only devoted about 4 hours total to IM inc. I plan to start working on it more. I will report back on my progress.

Twitter Tools that will help you make money!

There are some great Twitter tools that you should be using to help you make the most of your Twitter account. Below are some of my favorite.
1. Twiends.com is a free service that helps you gain more followers. The more followers you have on Twitter, the more money you will make. On Twiends.com you earn credits by following people. You use those credits to get followers. In one hour of using Twiends.com, I gained 212 followers.

2. Twitterfeed.com takes your latest blog posts, then posts them automatically to Twitter and Facebook. This is a great way to gain more followers and to drive traffic to your blogs.

3.Twuffer.com lets you schedule your tweets and posts them on Twitter at the time you tell them to post!

SponsoredTweets.com is a company that pays users to post ads on thier Twitter accounts. You make $1 and up for every ad that you post. . The minimum that you can get paid is $1 for each ad that you tweet out. In just under a month I have made $7. However, keep in mind that I have only logged in twice! I have accepted offers from companies such as Tony's Pizza, Volvo, and Mayor Bloomberg's election campaign. The more followers you have the more offers you will recieve!

They pay within 24 hours via Paypal of accepting payout. The minimum amount needed to cashout is $50. If you already have a Twitter account, why not join SponsoredTweets.com and make some cash. RevTwt.com

RevTwt.com is the largest Twitter advertsing company. If you use Twitter, you have seen thier adss. They are also the least paying. This is because with RevTwt.com you only get paid when someone clicks on an ad. However, most of the ads are uninteresting and its rare that someone clicks on them.

There is some money to be made though. If you already use Twitter, you might as well sign up for RevTwt.com and make some extra money. They have an auto posting feature. Once you join and set that up, they will automatically post 1 to 2 ads a day, you decide.

I set up my account with RevTwt.com 3 months ago. I set it to autopost one ad per day. As of today I have made a total of $5.72, that breaksdown to 6 cents a day. It's barely anything at all but every penny does add up.

ImShopping- Get paid to help people shop!

IMshopping is a new service that helps shoppers find products. Shoppers can ask questions about how to find certain items or product specifications via IMShopping.com, Facebook, or Twitter.

When you first join IMshopping you are a community members. You can answer questions for tips. If you are voted as having the best answer, you will receive $1 tip. You can get paid via Paypal after you have $40 in your account. So far I have answered 33 questions in one week. I've logged in for about 20 minutes every day. Out of those 33 questions, 11 have been voted as a best answer. That's an average of $4.78 per hour. I know I can do much better though. Getting used to how to answer the questions, and where to find the answers, will take time. The more questions you answer the faster you will get at answering them. Also over time your answers will get better and you will make more money.

After you have answered 25 questions you can become invited to be a shopping assistant. Shopping assistants get paid .20 per question answered. In addition for each positive feedback they receive a bonus of .65, for each best answer they receive a bonus of $1.65.

I haven't been invited to become a shopping assistant. If I do, I will report back on my experience.

Weegy get paid to answer questions & research!

Weegy is my favorite of all the paid to answer questions and research companies.

First off all they have the best pay rates. They also offer more then one way to make money. They aren't ask picky about how you answer the questions, this means that you can spend less time coping source links, less time spell checking, and more time making money!

You get paid .20 for each question that you answer as an expert. Questions range from hi how are you? to Solve this equation. If your ever not able to or don't want to answer a question you can pass it on without being punished like other companies. Users (customers) can rate you. The higher the rating the more questions you will get. It's easy to build up ratings. In my first hour of Weegy I received 3 ratings. Users can also select thier experts. So the higher your rating the more people will select you.

There are two other types of experts. Researchers and Pro's. You can become a researcher or pro when you build up enough points. You get points by leaving comments on coversations, in the archive, and blog. Researchers and Pro's get paid more per question!

Weegy also has a montly point contest. The experts with the most points per month wins extra money! I haven't worked there for a full month yet, so I will report back at the end of February when I try to go for being a top expert for the extra cash.

The question's are not back to back since Weegy is still a new company. Which is fine because I can work on other projects while I answer questions. I have answered 5 while writing this blog, for a total of $1.

There is also a referral program. If you refer a customer you get paid .50 and 20 points EVERY time they ask a question! If you refer another expert you get 20 points when they join.

Amount earned so far: $3 a day

ChaCha get paid to answer texts!

ChaCha is a mobile question answering service and search engine. They use real humans called guides, and also have automated responses. They used to pay in cash but that has recently changed to a points system. Before you could get your cash at anytime. The money went instantly onto a debit card. Once I cashed out 3 times in one day. Over the past year, the pay rate has dropped from $6 an hour to $2.50 an hour. This is the result of pay decreases, more automated answers, and increases in the amount of guides working. Instead of making cash, new guides now get paid via a point system. The points are put into a "guide share pool." It is then converted into cash at the end of the month. The problem with is that no one knows what those points are going to be worth! It all depends on how many guides are working and what ChaCha's income was for that month. So say your are an expeditor and normally make .02 per question. If you become a points guide, you will make 2 points per question. If you do 10,000 questions in one month (very easy to do), that would normally be $200 a month. Under the point system it could be $100 per month or maybe even $500 per month. The points system has both its advantages and disadvantages.

ChaCha themselves state that ChaCha is not meant to be used for a sole income. It's only meant to be used to make extra money. Most guides average between $300 to $500 a month. There is no schedule, you can work whenever you want. They are legit and do pay out timely. They are a great company to work for. However, there are a lot of other jobs out there that pay tons more! Your time is worth more than $2.50 an hour. I only work on ChaCha when I need quick money for a bill or I have else do to at that moment.

Amount earned: $20 weekly
