I hesitated with writing this blog post. This blog is all about LEGIT jobs. I decided to write it anyway, to hopefully help you decide for yourself what is and what is not legit.
Amazon Mechanical Turk program (or MTurk) is a program that connects people that have jobs to offer with those who want to work. There are plenty of jobs listed on the website. At the very moment I am typing this there are 119,392 jobs available. My bet is that at least 50% of them are jobs that you do not want to do. You must be very very careful with Mturk and make sure that you are selective.
One of the problems that I have found is that a lot of jobs want you to go to another site to do something on that site. The sites seem to be spam, phising, and virus sites. Be very careful before you go to any website that looks strange to you. Also make sure that you have a good virus scanner installed.
Another problem is that some of the sites want you to pay for something. Here is an example, one person on there is offering $10 if you test out his website and obtain a free credit report. Seems like an easy way to make good money doesn't it? Well, here's the problem. You have to pay for it! The sites asks for credit card information, and they clearly state, that if you do not cancel within 7 days, you will be billed $24.95! Now your probably thinking, so what's the big deal? I'll just get the free credit report, cancel right away, and I'll have $10. Well, can you trust this site? Can you trust this person? Identity theft and credit card fraud happens every single day! So becareful!
Also make sure that you are getting paid for your time. There are a lot of people offering $1 for 40 minutes worth of work. Not at all worth it. Usually when you work from home you make more money, not less.
There are two ways to get paid. The first is direct deposit. You must have $10 minimum in your account. The second is with an Amazon gift card. You only need $1 to cash out for a gift card.
There are too many different people offering jobs on MTurk to deem is as being a legit work at home job. There are lots of legit work on there. You just have to judge for yourself!
